We read the laneway
Before we confirm: which council, does a lane exist, how wide, can the truck back in, or does it come out front? We plan the access, get the permit.
-
Moving day
A careful crew wraps, loads and transports. Blanket wrap, shrink film, floor runners. No scratched timber boards, no scuffed plaster.

Settled in
We place everything where it belongs, reassemble what we took apart, and take the empties away if you want.
Local knowledge, careful hands, honest quotes
We know inner-north access
Brunswick's bluestone lanes, Fitzroy's 4-metre frontages, Collingwood's booked lift windows, Carlton North's wide Rathdowne Street lots — we know the access at both ends before we quote. The truck plan is part of the job, not a morning surprise.
Terrace staircases done right
Victorian terrace staircases are steep, narrow and usually turn at the landing. Every wardrobe, bed and sofa we carry has been designed and built for a room that opens off a corridor, not a garage. We know how to get it back out.
Insured, every move
Your belongings are covered while we're carrying them. Wrapping and protecting your furniture and your home is part of the standard job.
Transparent quotes
What you are told up front is what you pay. No day-of surprises, no hidden fuel levies, no extra charge because the lane turned out to be narrower than expected.
Good to know before you move
Do I need a parking permit for a removals truck in Brunswick or Fitzroy?
Almost always yes. Both Merri-bek (Brunswick, Coburg) and Yarra City Council (Fitzroy, Collingwood, Clifton Hill) require a Loading Zone Notice or VMS board approval for a truck stop longer than 30 minutes in residential permit zones. We apply as part of the booking — allow 3–5 business days before move day. We include this in your quote.
Can a removals truck fit down a bluestone laneway?
It depends on the lane width. Most Brunswick and Fitzroy laneways run 3.5–5 metres. A 4-tonne truck needs around 3.2m clear (with mirrors); a 6-tonne needs 3.8m. We check the lane before we book the vehicle size. Many jobs use the lane for load-out (wider trucks park on the street, furniture is carted to them from the lane). We plan this properly — it isn't a surprise.
I'm in a warehouse conversion. How does that work?
Collingwood and Fitzroy warehouse conversions typically have a shared loading dock and goods lift with building management control. We contact building management during booking to confirm the weekend lift window (usually Saturday or Sunday morning, 8am–12pm). We confirm the booking the week before and again the morning of the move.
What's the difference between a Yarra and Merri-bek Council permit?
Both require advance notice — Yarra City requires 3 business days minimum, Merri-bek requires 5. Yarra Council processes a Loading Zone Notice (a form you or we submit online); Merri-bek uses a VMS (variable message sign) board approval. The requirement differs street by street, so we check which applies to your address. We handle the application.
How do I get a quote?
Fill in the form with your addresses, dates and property type. A photo of the laneway behind your property (if you have one) helps us plan the truck size before we quote.
